Shiyun Deng (She/They) is an interdisciplinary artist and visual designer born and raised in Guangdong, China.
Working across performance, drawing, printed matter, moving image, and vocalization, their work investigates the momentary emergence of language from the apparatus of the body.
With a focus on somatic language expressed through gestural movement, voice, drawing, and writing,
they approach communication as a site of active performance, creating circular feedback loops between physical action and cognitive thought.
Their work have been shown in art institutions, galleries and publishing contexts in the US, Netherlands, China and Japan.
